Volunteers turned out on Oct. 8, Columbus Day, for a successful community cleanup sponsored by RBC and the Keep America Beautiful affiliate in northern Virginia. About 48 volunteers collected 35 bags (875 pounds) of trash along 5 miles of Old Bridge Road in Prince William County.Prince William County Supervisor Ruth Anderson hosted the event and presented Keep Prince William Beautiful and the RBC with a commendation. Also attending were Advance Auto Parts representatives Micah Thompson and Rafael Aragon and RBC executive director Steve Christensen.The next cleanup as part of the partnership will be Saturday, Nov. 17, at Veterans’ Park, where volunteers will work with Supervisor Frank Principi to clean up Route 1.Citizens are returning any used vehicle batteries found to area retailers – AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Walmart.
