On Saturday, Nov. 17, more than 80 volunteers cleaned up two park areas in Prince William County, Va., as part of Keep Prince William Beautiful’s (KPWB) second community cleanup in partnership with the Responsible Battery Coalition. The collection totaled more than 2,200 pounds of trash, which included 39 discarded tires and 1,500 pounds of metal.The coalition joined with KPWB in October to promote two community cleanups this year and to issue a call to action for citizens to return used vehicle batteries to RBC’s retail partners -- AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Walmart. This effort dovetailed with concurrent campaigns to promote America Recycles Day on Nov. 15 and RBC’s 2 Million Battery Challenge. Prince William County Supervisors Ruth Anderson (Occoquan) and Frank Principi (New Woodbridge) each issued commendations to RBC and KPWB for their efforts to promote sustainability and community beautification. RBC will continue to seek future partnership opportunities with Keep America Beautiful and its affiliates.
